THE INTENTIONAL ACTOR
Spatial and bodily awareness on stage; dramaturgy and character construction; diction, vocal projection and acoustic presence; the relationship between physical action and speech; breathing and tonicity as regulators of emotional intensity.

With a career spanning over two decades in theatre, film and television, David Pereira Bastos is an actor and director with extensive experience in acting, directing and theatre pedagogy. He trained at the Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema, began his artistic path with CITAC in Coimbra and, since then, has worked with some of the most prestigious national and international companies and theatres. In cinema, he has collaborated with directors such as João Salaviza, Pedro Pinho and Luís Filipe Rocha, and has appeared in several television series.
As a stage director, he has created productions at Teatro Nacional D. Maria II, Casa Conveniente, Teatro Maria Matos and CCB, exploring the work of playwrights such as Samuel Beckett, Thomas Bernhard, Jean Cocteau, Chekhov, Shakespeare and Heiner Müller. At Operafest, he directed Suor Angelica by Puccini and Rigor Mortis by Francisco Lima da Silva.
His work focuses on the relationship between body, space and voice in the construction of stage presence. In this workshop, he will guide participants through a practical and dynamic approach to the following themes:
Spatial and bodily awareness on stage
Dramaturgy and character construction
Diction, vocal projection and acoustic presence
The relationship between physical action and speech
Breathing and tonicity as regulators of emotional intensity
An opportunity for actors and non-actors, performers and students to deepen their stage presence through an integrated physical, vocal and dramaturgical practice.

Fee: €80 (€60 for students and participants over 65)
Venue in Ponta Delgada to be announced after registration.
