Masterclass dedicated to reflecting on stage space as a place of creation, thought, and transformation. Based on his artistic journey, José Manuel Castanheira proposes an approach to scenography as an expanded practice, where architecture, dramaturgy, and sensory experience intersect in the construction of "micro-geographies" for the stage.
This workshop explores creative processes, working methodologies, and ways of thinking about theatrical space as an artistic laboratory, investigating the relationship between matter, light, memory, and time. Through critical reflection and the sharing of practices, the masterclass invites participants to rethink scenography as an active language in contemporary creation.

MODULE CONTENT
This workshop is dedicated to exploring stage lighting as an artistic language and an essential technical tool in performative creation. The training combines technical fundamentals with a creative approach, providing participants with the skills to understand and use light as an expressive element in building atmospheres and visual dramaturgy.
Throughout the workshop, the fundamental principles of lighting, the use of projectors and professional equipment, as well as notions of operation and programming of lighting systems will be addressed. Through practical experimentation, participants will be invited to develop lighting designs, test solutions in a scenic context, and reflect on the aesthetic and technical choices made.
Using a practical and participatory methodology, the workshop promotes direct contact with professional equipment and experimentation in a real stage setting, combining technique, creation, and visual thinking.
